MISSION
To Improve health status of individuals and
communities through promotion of health, and prevention and protection from
injury, communicable diseases, and environmental contaminants.
PRINCIPLES

The Public Health mission is shared by
federal, state, regional, local and tribal government agencies and by
non-government and private sector organizations.

All levels of government need to provide
adequate and equitable funding to carry out public health activities.

Public Health priorities must be determined by
the community.

Public Health has a unique role and
responsibility in the health system to assess health status indicators as a
method of assuring the quality and accessibility of health and primary
prevention services.

Public Health in Washington State is embodied
in the Core Functions and Ten Essential Services.

Policy Development. Policy Decisions should
balance information from community assessment, scientific data and knowledge,
and community values and priorities.

Leadership. Leadership in Public Health should
identify and frame issues of public health significance.
